House Updates

We have been in our house for a couple of months now and it's starting to feel like home but it's far from finished. That's the thing about designing on a budget, it takes time. My girls really want to host Thanksgiving this year so I am going to try to tackle a few areas and use what I have.

The first area will be my entry way.

It is long and narrow but it is the first thing guests will see when they arrive. (I am putting my bedroom off for a bit. But don't fret, it will happen and I will share.) Here is my entry way to do list:

  • Stencil the walls. I LOVE wallpaper but it can be expensive so I ordered a stencil from Cutting Edge. My walls are a warm white and I am not loving how plain it is so I am adding some pattern.

  • Gallery Wall.  I bought 9 gold frames for my old house and was going to use some calendar images in them to create a gallery. I never even took the plastic off the frames. They will add some nice color to the area.

  • Re-upholster two Parson chairs. My mom gave me some chairs that didn't work around my dining table, but they need to be re-covered. I may look and see what fabric I have in my stash.
  • Hang a mirror over the console table. I really didn't want to use a mirror there because I have one over my buffet just around the corner  but I have several in the garage that aren't being used.
  • Add a runner. Rugs always add coziness. I found one on Wayfair that I like but still need to determine a size.
  • Change the light fixture. This might not be in the budget but it definitely needs to be done. I want something gold and kinda fun. Maybe some beads?
  • Add battery powered sconces. I have been loving the re-chargeable sconces on Amazon. This will allow me to move the console to the longer wall because I won't need the outlet.
I may add some accessories. The stencil will be here Tuesday and I will need to pick a paint color. But I will post along the way and let you in on all the decisions. It's going to be fun!
